Fashion: Jimmy Skouls

Jimmi Skouls is an retail clothing boutique that specializes mature urban apparel, and footwear for men and women located at 8126 S. Stony Island Chicago, IL. This is one of my favorite stores in the City to shop at. Jimmi Skouls offers a unique brand of products that will always satisfy its buyers. Due to Stony Island being a major street in the city which seems like it is always extremely busy, they bring in a bunch of customers that expect to receive top of the line products. Very soon they also will be selling their own brand of Jimmi Skouls tee shirts. Rocking anything from Jimmi Skouls gives one their own style and significance. Stop by and get Skouled one day!

Head2Head: Rocky Diamonds & Mic Taylor

Head2Head is a little contest we play when we find two artists going over the same beat. Being that hip-hop has been losing it's competitive roots nowadays, we've decided to bring it back. There's no real prize here (except for self-gratification and a featured spot), this is just for the pure competitive nature of hip-hop. Today, we've stumbled across Minnesota emcee Rocky Diamonds (@RockyDiamonds) and Chicago emcee Mic Taylor (@MTaylorAG) both recording a track over Drake's Started from the Bottom. The rules are simple, Comment on who you think went in more and the winner will be announced! GO!

K Dash - Trap or Struggle [Mixtape]

Representing: Chicago, IL
K Dash (@kdashdaking) is a very peculiar artist. He's street, refer's to drugs and violence, but somehow he still keeps witty lyricism apart of his craft. If you like Chief Keef, but want more substance and overall effort, I would definitely listen to Dash. At 14 Tracks long, the DJ Pharris hosted T.O.S. gives us a pretty full plate to critique, and overall, we were pleasantly pleased. He's essentially the voice of the dope boys, but he has many joints that will send the party up. The project was very successful on DatPiff, getting 50000 + listens and 30000 + downloads for the month or so before it was taken off of DatPiff (we have the streaming link available for you). Dash has many videos for the project, most of them produced by AZAE, an up-and-coming visual producer from Chicago who has a plethora of successful projects under his belt. Take a listen and tell us what you think about K-Dash.
Rating: 3.5/5 Mics
Tracks to Look For: Get Off My Dick, Camotion, Supposed to Do

Mic Taylor - Started from the Bottom

Representing: Chicago ,IL
Mic Taylor (@MTaylorAG), who has recently had his mixtape Write-N-Wrongs featured, released a follow up joint over Drake's new joint Started from the Bottom. The young emcee clearly means business. In the song, Taylor describes his Chicago roots ("I tower in the Chi, these lil dudes know the Will is" (Willis Tower)) to be the reason for his actions. Taylor took a very clever twist of of the song. He also said he never heard Drizzy's version until after he recorded his. He said he got the beat at 6 p.m. and had the track released before 8. The  young man is working and we definitely see his potential. Check out the track via Soundcloud & his mixtape via DatPiff. & like that, it's a rap!

Ibn Inglor - GawdsSpeed [ALBUM]

Representing: Chicago
Unsigned artist Ibn Inglor releases a grand album consisting of 14 original tracks hosted by DJBooth. This album is almost unprecedented, if I must say so myself, strictly because of the diabolic beats and flow that it contains. If you've heard from Ibn before you obviously know that he isn't the ordinary artist out of Chicago, or anywhere else, due to him having a Godly Flow. The production across GawdsSpeed is catered by Brandon Mahone, EL Schmitty, GWebbie, and also E.N.O.N Jacobs and PGMW who've produced plenty of Ibn's hit records.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Rap Snacks

Who remembers these chips? They were sold in every convenient store or gas station from 1994 to 2007. Created by James "Fly" Lindsey and later sold to Rapper Lil Rome, but still managed and operated by James Lindsey. I swear as a little kid, we would run to the store to get these chips to see which artist were featured and they were good too! Dang, I miss the 90's... #90sBaby :)

THROWBACK THURSDAY: Kid Sister

Melisa Young, born and raised in the South suburbs of Chicago. She discusses issues on being "thick" her entire life due to her cultural background of African American, Caucasian, and Native American. She graduated with a degree in film from Columbia College in the heart of downtown Chicago.

She started her rap career in 2005 becoming a MC at monthly parties hosted by DJ Duo. She made URB's the NEXT 1000 cover in 2007. Immediately following she was signed to DJ A- Trak's label, Fool's Gold where her hit Pro Nails featuring Kanye West was produced. Which was then later re-released after she signed with Downtown Records.

Her single "Control" is featured in the 2009 music video game DJ Hero, combined with Rihanna's "Disturbia". The album's lead single was "Right Hand Hi", produced by Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso of house DJ group Swedish House Mafia.
In late 2010, Kid Sister released a mixtape titled Kiss Kiss Kiss. She has also been working on her second album with Scoop DeVille, who worked on Kiss Kiss Kiss, and The Neptunes are producing a large amount of the songs.

Dave Amazin: Death Comes in 3$

Representing:  Chicago
Dave Amazin (@daveamazin) of the Good Raps collective releases his debut mixtape Death Comes in 3$. DCI3$ showcases Dave's meticulous wordplay and ability to grasp concepts. Creativity flows through this mixtape, from the very first track which is a disclaimer for what is to come. There's still room to grow but I definitely predict that Dave will rise to the occasion. Until next time, It's A Rap!
